Edmund Barton Chambers comprise 16 barristers who practice independently of each other and who are members of the South Australian Bar Association. These barristers have a wide and varied level of expertise and experience and accept briefs in courts and tribunals in all state jurisdictions including:
Edmund Barton Chambers was first established in November 1987
at another Heritage building at 82 Franklin Street, Adelaide. In November
1987 the chambers were offically opened by the Chief Justice, L King.
On 29th September 1989 the present Chambers were opened in the building
at 72 Wright Street.
Who is Edmund Barton
Edmund Barton (18/1/1849 - 7/1/1920) had the distinction of being Australia's first Prime Minister (1/1/1901) and one of the inaugural members of the High Court. He will best be remembered as a leader of the federal movement in the 1890's.
